Avalon of the Heart
Artist Statement
AVALON OF THE HEART was photographed in the United Kingdom, using a converted full spectrum camera and an infrared filter, which shows the health of plants, thriving on this lost land. This series forms part of a broader series of mine, exploring my heritage via the mythologies of the Lost Lands of Avalon, and Atlantis. My mother was born in Somerset, UK, which I’ve aligned with the lost land of Avalon. To me, Avalon is a mythological isle, that still exists in the heart. A place of priestesses, fairies, elves, unicorns, dragons, mistletoe, apples and oaks.
I photographed this series while I was doing a course in sound-healing in Glastonbury, sometimes referred to as the heart chakra of the world.
